A few of my friends recently started talking about going back to school. They wanted to make a change and getting another degree seemed like the best opportunity for a new career path. But, this can be difficult when you are juggling your current job, kids, and taking care of your home. They decided to look for program. After much consideration, they found the right program for them. They didn’t have to go to a campus or have to worry about working classes around their schedule. They could do their work online and still have time to work and take care of their families.
The internet can be a useful tool for online education. It is an easy way to get a degree while juggling everything that life may throw at you. I found it extremely useful when I decided to go back to school for my Library Science Degree. I had been working in the classroom for years, and I was ready for a change. I found a local university and decided to go back to school for my masters. I found it much more convenient to be able to work on my degree online while my students were taking a test or doing a project. I finished in a reasonable time and now I am happily working in the library at my school. It is so nice to still work with kids but have a change in my surroundings. Use the internet to find the right online program for you and make the change. Not long ago this was not possible, but now we can take advantage of what all this amazing technology has to offer. Change your life today and get an online degree!
Have you seen those great ways to make money all over the internet? Yeah, don’t fall for it. I recently got a letter in the mail from a company that said it was the largest employer of people like me. I was confused because it didn’t say much else about what people like me are like. The letter went on to tell me about the great pay, awesome benefits, and they had a position open just for me, but they failed to ever mention what this company actual did. I mean how did they even know who I was? I started looking into what this company was about online, and just about everything I read said it was a giant scam. Basically, I had to buy something from them before I could even be hired. That’s probably not a good sign. This company was stealing tons of money from people, and the people falling for it were not making anything in return. I knew better than to believe it, but many people get caught up in the moment and forget that something like that may be too good to be true. When you see something pop up out of no where on your computer screen, check into what it is before you just click on it. It might be a scam or a virus. The internet can be a tricky place. Some of these scams may look very real, and it can be hard to tell, so check before you click. There are plenty of great businesses that you can buy from in bulk and be your own sales rep, but there are lots of scams too. If it looks too good to be true it probably is!
Everybody has a computer at home now. There are a lot better things to do with it than spending all your free time on social media. How about putting it to work for you? I’m talking about making money.
Everybody wants to make more money and there are myriads of companies out there that offer to help you. The first thing you need to know is the more marketing hype they dazzle you with, the less likely you are to succeed. A company that promises a quick, easy way to riches is getting rich themselves off of people like you. So, don’t follow those schemes.
There are plenty of legitimate businesses that market on the internet without all the marketing hype. One that I’ve done business with is Hoover Tree Service. They have a great website that you can view as an example at www.HooverTreeService.com.
If you have a product or service you want market online, the first thing you have to do is secure financing. There are companies called Fundable, Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Rockethub. that can raise pre-orders for you. It’s called Crowdfunding and it’s a new way to gauge if your product is in demand.
Of course, you will have to have a website. You could pay a tech guru to create one for you, or create one yourself. Many companies offer template-based websites that are easy to navigate and look professional without hiring a programer who can write code. My favorite is Weebly, because it’s easy and fun to use and looks great with a little imagination. Also, both Shopify and Squarespace are easy e-commerce platforms that allow you to build a site yourself. You will also have to register your domain and hire a hosting service like GoDaddy. There are sites that give you step-by-step instructions on enabling e-commerce plugins and everything about setting up a website.
It’s important to know what your competition is offering and at what price points. Also, how are they marketing their product or services? Try Google-searching key words relating to what you’re offering and see what comes up. You can use a search tool like SimilarWeb to see what sites customers are visiting.
Don’t forget Facebook! You can throw up a Facebook site for your company in no-time and solicit “likes” from everyone in your friends list. They’ll love knowing what you’re doing and many would be glad to share your page.
Sometimes life throws you some major curve balls. Right when you feel like you’re getting on top of it, the roof leaks, the water heater breaks, another child is off to college, and it is time to dish out thousands of more dollars. The internet can be a great source to find a company to help fix all your problems. Well, maybe not the child going off to college, but other than that you can find any company you might need. When I had a leak in my living room, I knew I was going to have to get the room painted. So, I started searching for a company, I found Birmingham Pro Painters (BirminghamProPainters.com). They were fast, kind, and very affordable. I was lucky to find such great people during a time that I was in such a panic. We had family coming over to spend the week, and I needed to get the house in order before they got there. Thanks to Birmingham Pro Painters, I was able to make that happen.
Using the internet to find a company is a great way to see if they are trustworthy or just a scam. It is easy to find reviews that other people post, and it’s always good to share a review yourself after you use a company. There have been so many times that reading other opinions have helped me make a better decision on what company to use. It’s also important to check out how reliable the company is. The internet is a great way to find the perfect business to get the job done for you. It only takes a simple search, followed by a little research. Use the tools you have wisely, and pick a company that suites you best. Finding a company to help you can seem stressful, but once you google it, I bet your worries will start to disappear.
Finding the right college can be very tricky, extremely overwhelming, and slightly terrifying; however, the internet can be a useful tool to help ease some of that anxiety through the college process. When I was going to college, the internet was not something many people used, but now most people can’t live without it. Every young person I talk to says they rely on the internet to search for the college they want to attend. There are now websites where you can plug in your major and the area you are looking to go to school, and it will give you a list of results to help narrow your search.
Colleges are continuously trying to out do one another with better recreation centers, dining halls, dorm rooms, and education facilities, so it is very important to find the right school that is within your price range. To help make getting a higher education more attainable make sure to check into scholarships that the school gives, scholarships in your area, and use the FAFSA calculator to see if you are eligible for government grants and loans. It is important to understand that loans must be paid back and can lead to a lot of debt if you are not careful. That is why the internet can be so useful. There are tools available that allow you to see how much money you’ll spend and how much you’ll have to pay back in loans. College is a major step, so use the internet wisely to help make the big decision. I chose to pick the first school that seemed right for me, but one of my best friends spent months trying to decided. She worried so much that it made her sick. So, do your research, but don’t freak out and over think everything. I know, it’s easier said than done. The important thing is to pick the school where you can get the best education in the field you want to go into. Pick a major that you can apply and make a career out of. Choose a school that you can afford and won’t feel overwhelmed by student loans, and make sure you pick a place that interest you and you can get involved. College is an amazing time, so use the internet as a tool to help make the right choice.
Fax technology has never been reliable. I don’t know why. Machine problems, landline problems, I don’t care. I just want all of my documents to get where they’re supposed to go.
Several years ago, I worked in the mortgage business. We were a brokerage and we dealt with different companies. They all needed the loan documents faxed to them. In a mortgage, there’s a lot of paperwork. Now, I’m big into follow-up and I would always call the company to make sure they got the docs. Never and I mean never would they have all of them. Best case, they would receive about half. Fax technology had been with us for about thirty years and the best it could do was deliver a facsimile of about half of what I had sent.
Then I came across a website that would fax my documents over the internet. Not a slow, easy-to-overwhelm phone line. You just scan your docs, save them to a file and attach them to an email. If you didn’t mind an ad for a cover sheet, they’d fax up to five documents for free. If you need more than that, there’s a fee, but it’s worth it.
In the mortgage business, speed is essential. Clients always ask the same question: “How long will the process take?” If another company promises the whole thing quicker, you’ve lost them. Also, while you’re feeding a fax machine…again, you could be scaring-up another client.
Maybe you’re not a mortgage broker. Maybe you need to send a fax from your home office. Do you really want a fax machine sitting on your desk? How much money are you willing to pay for an unreliable technology? How much time do you have to send it again?
This is just one way to make the internet work for you.
Making the internet work for you. There are myriads of ways. The world-wide web puts the wisdom and knowledge of this world at our fingertips. Whatever we want to know, a few keystrokes will give us more answers than we asked for.
I began searching the web back in 2001, a little later than many, but I pushed back against computers because I didn’t understand them. In the workplace, I was forced to learn computers to do my job and it was a constant source of irritation for me. That was mostly because the programs I had to use were outdated and not user-friendly. As companies realized that their software had to be simple to use and understand, they began to upgrade to software that people besides programmers could relate to.
When I began clicking on search engines a whole new world was opened up to me. It first started at the public library and wasn’t long before I realized I had to have this at home!
Knowledge is power. Americans value convenience and the freedom to learn and grow in a comfortable environment. We would rather sit in our underwear and explore the world than really explore the world. It’s a lot cheaper that way. It’s also convenient to have a home office in a spare bedroom or on the dining room table.
We started adding scanners, fax machines and printers. Then printers with built-in scanners and fax machines. Now, the internet has the “Cloud” with the capability to connect our home and office computers. Add our tablets and smartphones and our information goes with us everywhere. It is truly the information age.
People are willing to pay for information. If you’re a little tech-savvy and with a little luck, you can throw up a website and sell information on it. Or, if your site is well done and people see its value, they may be willing to donate money to keep it up and running. Then, there’s the wonderful world of advertising!
A really good information site will draw companies willing to advertise on it. The premise is simple: You give the information away for free and on one side of the page your viewers will see ads relating to their interests. They click on the ad and you get paid! How simple is that?
You can turn your passion into profit. If you’re interested in something, you can bet there are a lot of other people interested in it too. If you are very knowledgeable on a subject, there’s probably a lot of people who are interested in it but don’t know much about it. They’ll be the fans of your website. And one way or another, with the tools available on the web, you can probably figure out somebody willing to pay you for your knowledge one way or another
So turn off the TV and get busy! Do something profitable. Before you know it, you just might be the next great internet success.
Let’s get to writing!
The internet is one crazy place. You can search just about anything, and I bet thousands of web pages pop up. Sometimes it can be incredibly overwhelming, and other times you might enjoy looking through all those pages, but most of the time people just want to find the answer to what they are looking for and be on their way. So, how can you make the internet a more easy to use friendly tool, and what are some of the important mile stones in life where the internet can actually be useful? I mean trust me, you are not the only one that gets sick of seeing the same stupid meme over and over again.
Lets say you need to find a new job, there are multiple websites built just for finding the right place to work. It’s all about finding the right website that works for you. I recently wanted to start working some place new. I was sick of the same old schedule every day, and I needed a change, so I went online and found a great website to search for jobs. I got a hired at a new office in about three weeks. It was amazing, and I know that for many people it can take months to find a new job. Luckily, the internet made it easy for me to transition from one job to another. I think for most people the internet is a love hate relationship. On one hand it’s great to be able to search for whatever you want at the drop of a hat, but in the same sense it gets old watching people bully one another on social media behind their computer screens. The important thing is to find a balance. Don’t waste your life away on the internet but still find time to enjoy the fact that you live in the age of technology.
